University of Dronfield: Orientation

University Of Dronfield

Congratulations on your place at the University of Dronfield. This article covers all you need to know for making your decision and settling into North East Derbyshire’s liveliest and most fashionable town. Now you’ve secured your place at UoD, take a look at the halls that you could be living in. We take pride in the fact that the experiences our halls offer help students outside the lecture theatre.

These are our 3 University owned Halls:

Gunstone Halls: Is that freshly baked goods or the sweet smell of independence? Situated in the heart of Dronfields thriving multi-cultural scene and popular with our international students. Gunstone Halls offer great transport links to Sheffield and Chesterfield. These halls are recommended especially for students enrolling for International Relations, International Business and Criminology courses; learn from home with the locals at UoD!

Unstone Halls: Located on the UoD Unstone Campus, Unstone Halls offers for very affordable living costs, with great countryside scenery. In close proximity to the beautiful Dronfield Nature Park as well as a post-office, Unstone Halls has lots to offer for students at UoD. These halls are recommended especially for students enrolling in Biology and Psychology; learn from home with the locals at UoD!

Snape Hill View: Locals refer to this part of town as ‘The Village’ quite like Greenwich Village, New York, and it’s easy to see why. SHV is within walking distance to Dronfields commercial and fashion capital, The Forge. In The Forge you’ll find unique vintage garms and quirky products in one of the Charity shops. These stores give this area a reputation to rival Greenwich Village, Paris or Milan. Shops only stay open for a few months, so fashion is always fresh! Recommended for students enrolling in Business and Fashion courses.

Dronfield offers the best night life in North East Derbyshire and it definitely shows, with super club The Akademy and Blue Stoops Saturdays with resident DJs. The critically acclaimed Village Hall Project will be back again for its 2013 season, including names such as Rudimental, Dave Berry, Disclosure, Acoustic Angels and Cyril Hahn booked to play between September and January. VHP will get underway with its launch at the Coal Aston Village Hall this September, rotating venues between Holmesfield VH and The Civic Hall. Get the talk flowing with the hashtag #VHP.

At many Universities, students often go to freshers fairs all excited to what clubs and societies they could be participating in, only to become half-hearted and sack them off to catch up on Breaking Bad or to download the latest Skyrim add-on. This isn’t the case at UoD, once you see our societies you won’t be able to get enough off them! Popular clubs include: The Dronfield Rotary Club and Friends of Dronfield Station. We hope you make the right choice and join us here at the University of Dronfield, where being average matters. Your new life awaits… semper sit amet : be average always
