On the 7th of July The Birks Family will be hosting the area’s biggest private charity event: BIRKFEST! The event is held every two years on the Birks’ family garden in Middle Handley near Eckington.
‘But what’s that got to do with Dronfield?’ I hear you cry! Well, a lot of the acts come from Dronfield, a lot of people come from Dronfield, and the Birks have supported the Dronfield music scene for many years. We are on our 3rd bi-annual event now and it goes from strength to strength.
We have loads of music, an auction, a food stall, drink stalls, and all sorts of sideshows. It is a £10 minimum donation to get in the truly beautiful garden and then BOSH just relax and enjoy. We hope the weather holds out because last time oh how it rained, but it still went down well! This year look out for Junkyard Dog topping the bill, Acoustic Angels, The Sherlocks who are a great young mod band, Emma Rossi, Acoustic Lily, plus lots more.
The charity is very close to Andy Birks heart; it goes to a special needs school and so far we must have raised at least £45,000 for Stubbin Wood School. Now we are raising money for a must have play area for children who can’t play out with their friends because of certain disabilities. The charity is called Fairplay and is located near Saltergate. Please support this wonderful music event. See you there 1pm till 9pm.
